Connection Hub is turning into a (mostly) paid newsletter
An interlude newsletter and announcement
Dear Connector,
In my life as a creator, there’s always been the tension around what to offer for free and what to charge for. Since I can remember, I felt conflicted around that.
I find so much good free content online that a part of me feels like its my duty to reciprocate. I want to give back, unconditionally. That’s why it’s easy to feel shame around asking for money.
At the same time, I see people with less experience / education are charging heftily for their services and content. With that, it seems that I’m doing a disservice by not asking for money — and not just to myself, but also to those who are ready to pay for what I’m offering. Instead, they’re paying for lower quality elsewhere.
Plus, by not getting paid to write there’s only so much time I can afford to give to it. That may be sad, but that’s the reality.
Considering all this, I arrived at what feels like a middle way.
From September onwards, Connection Hub will be a paid newsletter at a pretty standard $5/month. I will probably put the paywall around 20-30% percent of the way into each article. This way, I can give readers a preview of what I’m offering before they decide to pay.
I want you to know the value before you give me money. I think that’s a fair deal.
On top of that, I will publish one article a month completely for free. Seems like a good balance of giving back to all the amazing content creators out there, while also helping myself treat writing seriously. Doesn’t it?
That’s all for today. I just wanted to give you this heads-up that things are changing from September onwards.
In the meantime, I’m working on a piece on how skillful communication can be a tool for nervous system regulation. Planning to publish it next week, as the first paid piece.
Until then, stay tuned, stay present, stay connected. Any comments, questions, or ideas for what you’d like to read about - just reply to this email!
With love x
Marta
